So what brings someone to Oregon?
Born and raised in the state of Utah and a bit of the black sheep of the family, Jason moved out of Utah in search of freedom from...well Jason left Utah. Not always politically correct Jason received a degree in computer science and business management. After discovering that computer programming was not a people driven career, Jason began tending bar around the country. Jason found a mentor during these travels that exposed him to the world of wine. After working as a restaurant manager and wine buyer for the 2002 Olympic Winter Games, Jason sought more and aspired to become a Certified Sommelier through the Court of Master Sommeliers. It was also during this time that Jason realized he wanted to head out to the wine regions on the left coast. In choosing the region he asked himself, 'How cool would it be to be in a region when it boomed?" Napa had boomed, which left Oregon and Washington. Jason had always been attracted towards Oregon and its natural landscape, so Pinot and the Willamette Valley won. After settling in Oregon, through the society of wine educators Jason acquired his Certified Specialist of Wine certificate.
Jason now finds himself where he wants to be, working amongst the vineyards of Oregon and pursuing his final wine educator exam. At Cooper Mountain he is responsible for overseeing hospitality programs at Cooper Mountain as well as educational programs in and around the Northwest region.
